Alessandro Molatore is an Italian film director, producer, and editor based in Mexico City, with a career spanning Europe and the Americas. He studied visual arts and film in Bologna, Bremen, and Santa Barbara, and has lived and worked in Dublin, New York, and Mexico City.
He began his career in Europe, directing short films and documentaries, developing a strong connection to non-fiction storytelling as a tool to explore social and cultural realities. Over the years, he has collaborated with international media companies and broadcasters including Universal Studios, Al Jazeera, Mediaset, MTV, and Discovery Channel, as well as with numerous independent productions worldwide.
Alongside his work as a filmmaker, Alessandro has extensive experience in education. He has taught film production and editing at institutions such as New York University (NYU) and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), has been a visiting lecturer at Accademia Chigiana in Siena, and has worked as an Apple Certified Trainer for Final Cut Pro. His teaching and professional practice also include the use of AI-based image and video generation tools for visual development, storytelling, and creative workflows.
Some of his films and documentary projects have received international recognition and have been screened at festivals and cultural events around the world.
Based in Mexico City since 2011, Alessandro continues to work across film, documentary, and television projects, combining creative direction, editing, and local production for international teams.
